imax, I got your e-mail a couple months ago about site suggestions...  I don't know if you ever got my response, so I figured I'd post it here.  Maybe some of the users will comment...

Site Suggestions:

1>  We could probably use a few new forums and remove one or two forums (or combine them.

1A>  Poems, Love Songs, and Dedications are rarely used, so they could probably be combined into one.

1B>  The board could also use a sex forum.  Of course, I'm not talking about a "brag page" or "conquest page," but I'm sure some people have questions about it.  They can obviously post that in the Relationship & Love Talk forum, but sex is a popular topic and deserves it's own area.  Plus, if we can cover all the bases, it might help to reduce the occurrence of people posting 50 different posts about the exact same question.

1C>  With the way the economy is and how certain nations governments have changed (notably Britain and the USA) along with ones that are getting flack for certain decisions (like Australia and China), maybe we should have a forum dedicated to Politics and the Economy.  I have quite a few little articles I wrote on Obama, GM, and some other things from here in the USA that could kick off the forum.

1D>  A Ranting and Raving forum could also be entertaining.  I got this idea from a website called F-My-Life (http://www.fmylife.com/).  Basically, people just make random comments on stuff that's bothering them.  While that website is dedicated to people just "venting," this website's version could also be used to help someone or give them some encouragement.

1E>  Word Games or Forum Game forums typically do pretty well on other boards.  It might also get people coming back if they're fun.  I've started a few in the Fun and Humor forum here, but they tend to get pushed down or forgotten about if someone screws up the rotation.  With a dedicated forum, they'd all be listed and no one would have to hunt through w whole forum to find the games.

1F>  We have General chat, but we don't have a "General Advice" forum.  If I'm having a problem with my neighbor, I'd probably put it in General Chat, but technically, there's no forum dedicated to other advice.  I know the board is about love and friendship so that forum might not generate much interest from someone surfing the net for general advice, but the "regulars" would probably use it.

1G>  Another forum that might do well is Family Advice.  People always have some sort of beef with mom, dad, brother, sister, or whoever.

1H>  Books, Movies, TV, and Video Games might be another one.  Everyone has a favorite TV show or movie.  Or occasionally, people will see a movie that they loved and want to talk about it.  Or maybe a movie, book, tv show, or video game they're anticipating.  Me, I like postulating about the TV show LOST.  I'm also a fan of World of Warcraft.  I'm personally anticipating the new Stargate tv series.

I think I had more in my original response, but this is all I can think of for now...

Myz,
Your points are well taken, the reason we did not add new forums or encourage more 'spicy' topics was that the forums were originally created to supplement  the main website http://www.latestngraetest.net which focuses on love quotes/quotations

Now, if we move to  things like politics and video games then it would be a totally different direction from love/relationships

.. as I can't force you to love me, I can't force myself to stop loving you ..

..you Broke my heart ..but I Love you with Every piece of it ..

While that's true, wouldn't it at least generate more traffic and get more people coming back?

I'm guessing we lose some users here because they come to have a question answered and once they get a response, they take off.  If the "regulars" had other forums to play with, they might stick around and be here to answer other peoples' questions when they see the "new posts" icon lit up.  Maybe they won't.  Maybe it's wishful thinking.

Also, I just visited the main website for the first time...  Honestly, I didn't even know there was anything more to the site than the forums...  When I originally discovered the forums, it was because I typed "advice" into Google.

I wonder how many people come to the forums after visiting the main website...  Or are the vast majority just Googling "advice" because they have a problem and wind up at the forums directly?  Maybe that could be a poll question...  Or does your website admin panel have a "counter" for the main website and the forums that could tell you how many visitors you get to each?

So, I guess, here's my question...  What are you looking for from the forums?  I'll try to help attain whatever that goal is if I can...

Well, right now most of people coming to the forums come directly via search engines for a variety of things like poems, quotes but yes the majority is from search terms related to advice and relationships

I don't think that having less boards is the problem, as we do have a General Chat forum, a fun stuff forum but rarely anyone posts there. the Fun Stuff forum was also added couple of years back on request of members but did not prove to be much of success
You see if there were many people posting in the General forum then we could have divided that into many forums , so I think  that even if we add new forums they would remain empty , what do you think ?

.. as I can't force you to love me, I can't force myself to stop loving you ..

..you Broke my heart ..but I Love you with Every piece of it ..

Quite honestly, I don't know.  If you want to stick with the general theme of love/relationships, then I can see your point about video games and whatnot.

So, I don't know, you could try more forums, but if it hasn't worked in the past, then I'm not sure what's a good course of action...
