as colorful and loud as an explosion of fireworks,
But sometimes a friend can creep into your life
so peaceful and unassuming
that it is not until they have disappeared
that you comprehend how intensely you miss them,
how you have come to rely on them,
how much you yearn to hear their friendly hello,
and how you regret that you never told them
how special they were before they vanished.
Where have you gone my friend?
Come back into my life again,
I feel lost and alone without you
In friendship, it's the little things,
That mean the most of all,
The "Let me help you with that" things,
That may seem very small.
The "I'll be glad to do it" things,
That make your cares much lighter,
The "Laugh with me, it's funny" things,
That make your outlook brighter.
The "Never mind the trouble" things,
The "Yes, I understand."
The interest and encouragement
In everything you've planned.
In friendship, it's the little things,
The friendly word or smile,
That add such happiness to life,
And make it more worthwhile.
Apart my mind has too much time to think,
to ponder the "whatifs",
to question and wonder why.
It works itself into a twisted tangle,
a mistaken mire of foolish thoughts.
Together, my heart has no time to think,
time only to feel and respond,
to enjoy the closeness of you.
Relax and unwind and luxuriate
in your enveloping warmth.
Your words sooth my mind.
Your touch heals my heart.
Your essence moves my soul.
That is why
I can't wait to be with you again.
